What is the GASAA Ugra PSO? How does it work?

GASAA is the exclusive audit body in the Australia/New Zealand region working with Swiss based ISO certifier, Ugra, to certify print comapnies that they meet the collection of ISO colour standards contained within the PSO certification. GASAA/Ugra PSO is your ultimate proof that proof and print match.

The independent on site audit conducted by GASAA will assess the implementation work of your preferred colour consultant to insure that the devices are calibrated, the standard operation procedures (SOP) are available and followed and the aim values are reached within the given tolerances:

• Data creation
• Display / Soft proofing
• Proofing
• Plate making
• Print
• Standard illumination

During the independent audit key personel are assessed as to their understanding of the PSO process and the need for colour controls. Procedures to handle non-conformity are stringently reviewed. Know-how in colour management, layout production and PDF creation (ISO 15630) is required. A test job is provided for output at assessment.

At least one viewing monitor in the company has to be set up according to the guidelines (ISO 12646) and calibrated correctly. At proofing the Visual Print Reference is generated and Media Wedges measured. The resulting values must be comfortably within the required ISO 12647-7 tolerances.

The print run determined by Ugra must meet the requirements of the ISO 12647-2 with the values being achievable smoothly under site conditions. The standard illumination (viewing conditions) must meet ISO 3664 standards. Sample sheets are signed by the GASAA auditors and air-freighted to the Ugra testing lab in St Galen, Switzerland.

The test results, report and final PSO certificate is issued by Ugra and validated by GASAA. To achieve the PSO certification, the audit conducted by GASAA for Ugra must result in a rating of over 80% across all areas of review.

All successful GASAA/Ugra PSO accredited firm are listed on the websites of both organisations.The certificate is valid for two years.

Ugra maintain ISO 17025 certication as an international accrediation body.
